Here's the new link that I'm writing about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjwUnfgihXY
I am totally disgusted by the unprofessional mishandling of an innocent man, Robert Dziekanski, who had just travelled overseas to visit his mother from Poland, only to die at Vancouver airport without having seen her. The video taken by a bystander was all over the news today. This is not a one-sided view of what happened. The video shows it all. This man was understandably disgruntled. Having travelled over 13 hours to a foreign country and not speaking a word of English, he was waiting in the luggage area for over 9 hours for his mother, due to honest miscommunication. The luggage area is a secured area. So you're telling me that not ONE employee noticed this man loitering around in the area for NINE HOURS???? What the f---? And when he tried to ask for help, did anyone THINK to get a staff person who spoke Polish or Russian? HAVE THEY NEVER SEEN A FOREIGNER BEFORE WHO CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH??? Really makes me wonder. So this poor man, finally gets to the second security zone. Did THOSE people not realize he hadn't passed through yet? from a plane that had landed 10 hours ago? SERIOUSLY. This man is now upset. He wants help, he wants his mother, he wants to get out of there. Can you imagine what his mom is thinking waiting at the arrivals gate all night? She speaks english, and yet no one GETS OFF THEIR ASS to go look for her son. BASTARDS. I mean really. I cannot believe such a thing could happen HERE in CANADA. The mother is told, "go home, your son is not here". SHAME ON THE PERSON WHO TOLD HER THAT. Do you have any children? I wonder how well you will sleep tonight. And lastly, the RCMP who tasered the poor guy. A taser is a LAST RESORT. This man was hardly being violent. And after being tazered once, and crying and writhing in pain on the floor, WHY did he need to be tasered again? And these are professionals? Being RCMP, does that mean that some of my taxes go to pay for their training?! Obviously, they need to learn how to be proactive rather than reactive and not jump to conclusions so damn fast. I wonder how they must feel now? In a way, I feel sorry for them. I just find the whole thing so unbelieveable. My heart goes out to Mrs Cisowski. What a way to lose a son. 'Nuff said.
